Infuriating. Unacceptable. Inappropriate. Whatever happened to “States’ Rights”? Confiscating a shipment that was bought and paid for is disgusting.

Federal government is intercepting and seizing medical supplies enroute to hospitals and end-users. It’s gotten so bad that even Maryland and Colorado have deployed their National Guard to protect the supplies.
Seriously — What
IS
there to get confused about?!

The Why.
Why would they be seized.

That’s the real kicker, isn’t it? Instead of letting the States hash it out among themselves, the Admin has decided to inject themselves into the mess and make things
even worse
. Jared Kushner is a piece of shit.

I mean, it would be nice if a competent and upstanding federal government were taking the lead on procuring and distributing supplies, but that’s clearly not what is happening here.

To divert them to regular hospital supply chains with more lobbying power (Medline).

With skilled credible minds like Jared and Stephen Miller on the case, things will be great again in no time.
IIRC Fauci was blocked from speaking before Congress.
Meanwhile, 45 is once again tweeting himself as a victim again today. Darkest dumbest timeline, most cowardly crooked president ever, with the most deplorable fans.

“ For decades, we have worked disasters the same way. The locals execute, the states coordinate and the feds support,” Kayyem said. “The federal government under Donald Trump has decided it is going to essentially go to war, create a parallel response apparatus, and it’s winning. That’s the problem.”
The federal government is winning the chaotic competition for scarce protective equipment, Kayyem says, and in the process it’s driving up the price of those supplies for everybody. And leaving states and hospitals even more desperate to find what they need.”
A WBUR reporter asked Baker if the troopers were being sent to protect the supplies from being confiscated.
Baker paused for a few moments before saying, “maybe.”

This is what the “both sides are equally bad” or the “can’t we all just meet in the middle?” argument results in - we got the dumbass dictator elected and he keeps doing dumbass dictator things. A quick reminder of some highlights:
Here he is staring into an eclipse after being repeatedly told not to:
Here he is with an obviously sharpie-modified map to “prove” his earlier l ies were actually true and he only really did this to get an apology:
Here he is claiming that there is an equally militant and aggressive party known as the “alt left” after the Charlottesville white supremacy rally:
THIS is still happening:
I’d go on about all the times he has severely grown or abused the powers of the federal government to a degree much higher than one would expect from a follower of a party who believes in “smaller government and restricted powers” but we’d be here all night.

A Massachusetts state hospital group made a deal to purchase a massive order of masks and ventilators from a warehouse in the mid-Atlantic, and the steps they took to actually get them to Massachusetts is surreal. They brought down two trucks clearly marked as food service transportation and for the return drive had two separate routes for the two trucks to reduce the risk of both payloads being seized or redistributed. Having to disguise medical supplies in food trucks and send it on multiple routes to keep it from being seized by your own government is insane.
Just hours before heading down to pick up the order they were told they would only get a quarter of what they’d originally ordered. Then while they’re at the warehouse loading the trucks the FBI shows up, checking everyone’s credentials making sure it’s a real hospital group and not people who will resell on the black market. They show their creds, get clearance from the FBI, and then as they’re about to get on the road they’re told to hold by Homeland Security because DHS is considering redirecting the equipment. It took calls to their congressional representatives and said representatives’ direct intervention to finally get on the road with the equipment.

Yup! Not only are the states and hospitals having to bid for PPE supplies on markets, but the FED is also bidding as well, driving up prices.
sounds like the man in charge has everything running smoothly. Yup. smoothly.

this is part of a master plan, Bill Gates is involved with making drugs for immunizations, he and his cohorts have been pushing for all people of the world to eventually get an “invisible tattoo” that will be what amounts to the mark of the beast in the Bible. unless you submit to t his you will not be able to transact money or buy certain things and eventually this will ramp up to the point where you will be an outcast if you don’t have it, and vaccinations will be the starting point

I have a feeling that if it wasn’t Trump doing it, it would actually be a sensible thing to do. Comparatively, here richer state governments are dealing with the crisis in a wholly different way than poor states; and the discrepancy of supplies is evident and very dangerous .

Perhaps I should have said “ relatively”. Certainly there have been plenty of points where the federal government has been more competent and less corrupt than state and local government , indeed I’d say on the whole, most of this country’s history. But this is not one of those points...

The difference? It’s with the Senate.
The House of Representatives

Occasionally the Fed does something reassembling competence, but there’s vastly more incompetence, corruption, manipulation through fear, and confiscation of rights. Human beings are all corrupt- every one of them. You and I, even. Human nature is filled with good and bad, and when you feed it power, the bad grows in most. Even (especially) when the government says they’re doing a good thing, they’re not to be trusted.
Happy Kent State massacre day!

It’s also disgusting when the state does it, then a few days later declares that all business must provide masks to their employees and make them wear them, or close. The courts will be tied up for years, which, conveniently
enough, are also shut down.

No, my state, my plant, ordered a bunch of masks in March, being proactive, trying to have on had in case anybody asked. The governor seized
the shipment
, then a few days after said businesses had to provide masks to their employees or close. Luckily we have plants in other states/countries that were able to send us enough to get started, but there’s a ton of abuse of power going on at the moment.
